Indonesian Networks Expect a Slow-Down in Profit Growth

By: Ian Mansfield |
Indonesia's three largest telecoms network operators, XL Axiata, Indosat and Telkomsel have said that they are likely tosee decreased profit growth this year.
PT Xl Axiata executive director Hasnul Suhaimi said the decline was likely caused by the saturated voice-based market. "Everybody now tends to seek alternative services rather than voice-based," the Jakarta Post quotes him as saying, citing a report by tempointeraktif.
He added that this year profit would likely increase by 6 to 7 percent.
PT Indosat public relations division head Djarot Handoko confirmed declining profit expectations but stated that it was due to the blocking of recent premium services by the government.
